GLOBAL WARMING is REALLY HAPPENING!
Global warming is happening faster than ever and humans are responsible. Global warming is caused by releasing what are called greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. The most common greenhouse gas is carbon dioxide.
Many of the activities we do every day like turn the lights on, cook food, or heat or cool our homes rely on energy sources like coal and oil that emit carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases. This is a major problem because global warming destabilizes the delicate balance that makes life on this planet possible. Just a few degrees in temperature can completely change the world as we know it, and threaten the lives of millions of people around the world.
WHAT DOES 350 MEAN?
350 is the number that leading scientists say is the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide—measured in "Parts Per Million" in our atmosphere. 350 PPM—it's the number humanity needs to get back to as soon as possible to avoid runaway climate change.

Getting back to 350 means transforming our world. It means building solar arrays instead of coal plants, it means planting trees instead of clear-cutting rainforests, it means increasing efficiency and decreasing our waste. Getting to 350 means developing a thousand different solutions—all of which will become much easier if we have a global treaty grounded in the latest science and built around the principles of equity and justice. To get this kind of treaty, we need a movement of people who care enough about our shared global future to get involved and make their voices heard.
THINGS YOU CAN DO TO STOP GLOBAL WARMING
1.Sustainable Transport
Lace up your shoes, hop on your bike, or find your bus or train fare for some low or no carbon ways to get around town.
2. Eat Better Foods
Grow your own food, buy locally grown or organic food, and organize your community to have farmers markets.
3. Unplug
Unplug your appliances, cell phone charger when you aren’t using them so they don’t waste energy.
4. Use less stuff
Many of us have a lot of unnecessary junk – and it doesn’t necessarily make us happier. Focus on acquiring fewerthings you don’t need, and reuse things whenever possible.
5. Dispose responsibly
Be responsible with the waste you produce – recycle, and compost your food scraps. No recycling program? Start a campaign!
6. Efficient Lightbulbs
Replace your lightbulbs with compact flourescants-and then organize a community-wide lightbulb
swap.
7. Buy green
When you do need to buy stuff, make sure it’s the most sustainable version of whatever you’re getting - this will help send a message to producers.

Do Your Part!
The Body Shop Indonesia successfully held “350 Climate Action” in Jakarta on 23 October 2009 at 09.00 am. A same day with Anita Roddick Day.
A big 350 sign with The Body Shop bottles inside, indicated our green commitment to the environment.
Our bottles are 100% recycled PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and it has been brought by our customers to be recycled. It was our first time to ask our staffs to bring their own drink bottle as we do not provide it to reduce plastic waste. And this will become our green policy in the future!
On this action, we invited staffs and media to attend this event, get involved and state our commitment to reduce our own carbon emission. To educate more customer about 350 and spread the important message on “350 Climate Action”, we are distributing 350 flyer in all stores.
