Green Action Plant The Future with 10.000 trees

We have a strong commitment to be part of the solution for the various environmental issues we are facing. The Body Shop Indonesia started 2009 by executing a campaign called “Green Action Plant the Future with 10.000 Trees” at an area in Gunung Klotok, Kediri. The event was held on January 24th – 25th 2009 and was supported by Yayasan Santa Louisa, Puteri Kasih Indonesia and Perum Perhutani.

The area in Gunung Klotok was chosen because for the past two years, forest fires has became rampant and transformed the area into a dry land. By replanting trees in here we are hoping to safeguard forests in the surrounding area from more damage. The joint co-operation with the surrounding community and Perum Perhutani is a way to continuously protect the forest.

The forest replanting was also involved around 500 elementary and junior high school students of Yayasan Santa Louisa in all East Java (Tulung Agung, Mojokerto, Surabaya, Bojonegoro and Kediri). Other supporting events were held for the students to educate on the importance of protecting the environment. This was done through games, such as creating a wall journal and watching movies on environmental themes.

We are committed to do this to compensation for the amount of carbon produced in all our stores and head office in Indonesia, through electricity, water and paper consumption and others. We did it because “We always believe in Our Incredible Planet” as one of our values.
